Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data the Zorrent app for Android handles, why, and the choices you have. Zorrent is developed by Najam (najmiter), referred to here as “we” or “us”.

The short version

1. Scope

This policy applies to the Zorrent app for Android (package com.najmiter.zorrent) and to this website. It does not cover the websites, trackers or peers you reach through torrents, or third-party services with their own policies, such as Google.

2. Data kept on your device

To work, Zorrent stores the following on your device only. None of it is sent to us.

If Android backup is enabled on your device, only Zorrent’s settings are included in your Google account backup. Torrent lists and downloaded files are excluded.

3. The BitTorrent network

Downloading a torrent means connecting directly to other people’s devices. When you add a torrent, Zorrent contacts the trackers listed in it, the distributed hash table (DHT) and other peers. Those parties can see your IP address, the torrent you’re sharing and what parts you have. While a torrent is active, other peers can download pieces of it from you.

We don’t operate these trackers or peers and can’t control what they record. Zorrent does not hide your IP address. If that matters to you, use a VPN you trust.

4. Advertising (Google AdMob)

Zorrent is free and shows ads using Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. To serve, limit and measure ads, and to prevent fraud, the AdMob SDK in the app may collect and send to Google:

Google handles this data under its own Privacy Policy. You can learn how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Your choices

5. Permissions

PermissionWhy Zorrent needs it
Internet and network stateTo download torrents, to pause when you choose Wi-Fi only, and to load ads.
NotificationsTo show download progress and tell you when a download finishes. You can turn this off.
Foreground service (data sync)So downloads you started keep running when you leave the app. It stops once nothing is downloading.
Keep device awakeTo stop the device from sleeping mid-download while a download is running.
Advertising IDUsed by Google AdMob to show and measure ads, as described above.

Zorrent doesn’t request access to your contacts, location, camera, microphone or photos, and can’t read files other apps created.

6. Sharing and selling

We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with anyone, because we don’t receive it. The only data that leaves your device goes directly to Google for ads (section 4) and to the BitTorrent network for downloads (section 3).

7. Retention and deletion

8. Security

Zorrent’s private data lives in storage that other apps can’t access. Data sent to Google for ads is transmitted over encrypted connections. BitTorrent traffic between peers is generally not encrypted, so others on your network may be able to see what you download.

9. Children

Zorrent isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child’s data has reached us, contact us and we’ll help.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or CCPA give you rights to access, correct, delete, or object to the processing of your personal data. Since we don’t hold your data, most requests are handled directly on your device (section 7) or with Google (section 4). If you have questions or a request, contact us and we’ll respond within 30 days.

11. Content you download

Zorrent is a general-purpose tool and doesn’t provide, host or index any content. You’re responsible for making sure you have the right to download and share what you add.

12. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how your data is handled, we’ll also mention it in the app or its release notes.
